Dublin: fire at the Guinness brewery
Guinness Storehouse - Anton Ivanov

A moment of panic yesterday at the Guinness Storehouse and its brewery. A small fire broke out shortly after 10 o’clock in the morning… requiring the intervention of Irish firefighters. Fortunately, it only took 2 hours for the fire-fighting teams to bring the flames under control… and allow Guinness to resume business as usual! We explain it all in our article!

The fire is thought to have started in a roasting drum

The brewery reports only minor damage, with no impact on production.

More fear than harm. That’s how to sum up yesterday’s vicissitudes for Dublin’s Guinness brewery. As the establishment went about its business as usual, producing thousands of liters of dark beer, a roasting drum caught fire.

This equipment, intended for toasting barley (an essential step in the brewing of Irish stout), then reached temperatures that led to an unusual outbreak of flames… causing alarm and prompting the fire department to be called in.

Fortunately, the tightness of the machine would have enabled emergency crews to neutralize the fire immediately, without impacting the rest of the brewery.

In fact, the Diageo Group plant was able to resume business as usual in no time at all: no part of the production chain had been affected by this mishap.
