J-14 ! And Dublin is already buzzing with excitement as St. Patrick’s Day, Ireland’s national holiday, approaches! The capital has decided to pull out all the stops this year! Assisted by the Saint Patrick’s Festival, the town has planned a series of colorful events and activities that are sure to delight both Irish people and tourists alike! It all kicks off on March 17, with a nationwide parade: thousands turn out for Dublin’s Grand Parade, where hundreds of colorful floats take to the streets along a 2.8km route (including O’Connell Street). Music, dance, choreography and floats pay tribute to Ireland’s cultural heritage! It’s not the first time this Grande Parade has been staged: it’s repeated every year, and has earned a worldwide reputation for its exceptional parades!
The event’s participants are dressed to the nines, and the floats are awe-inspiring, wowing young and old alike! In short, great art, followed by an audience that comes in great numbers every year! Don’t hesitate to come a little earlier than planned to get a good spot near the barriers!
Friday March 18 will be devoted to the Festival Céili’, a festival entirely dedicated to traditional local dance. Ireland has a reputation for excellence in dance: it fascinates the whole world with its frenzied footwork, reels and jigs!
That’s why Dublin’s streets will be alive with dance and music! Numerous trady bands will be offering their services to exceptional dancers: their performances are sure to get your legs tingling!
Finally, on March 19, fans will have the opportunity to take part in a Treasure Hunt in Dublin’s major tourist attractions! Riddles, games, clues… We’ve thought of everything to help you discover Ireland’s capital in a fun way, and find a treasure at the end of the day!
