If you’re currently in Galway, Ireland, you should know that An Púcán, a local Irish pub, is currently creating a buzz by offering free pints… But beware, this operation is subject to conditions… and the challenge is rather original! Will you feel up to it? We explain it all!
The affair takes place at An Púcán on Forster Street, a lively street in Galway, Ireland. Very popular in the town, the Irish pub had the idea of offering its customers a free pint of Guinness, provided they could meet a rather original challenge…
Dubbed “Split the G”, the challenge involves ordering a pint of Guinness at the counter (and making the initial payment). The next step is to take a generous sip of the beer, drinking enough to ensure that the black line of the beverage is level with the center of the Guinness “G” (which appears on the pint glass).
Note that this operation can only be carried out once (and therefore in a single sip) to be valid… hence the difficulty!
This action must be carried out under the watchful eye of a member of the pub team to be valid. If you win, your pint will be refunded, to the applause of the staff. If you fail, you’ll only have the rest of your pint to console you…
But rest assured: this opportunity for a free pint is not limited in time. The iconic venue offers this challenge to its customers every Wednesday at 8pm, under the name “Split the G”.
Far from being easy, this challenge requires a high degree of precision, which has aroused the interest of the whole of Ireland. Many challengers try their hand at it… sometimes successfully.
There’s plenty to keep the more adventurous amused… but remember, this type of game should be played responsibly and in moderation.
