An 800-year-old lighthouse built in an environment shaped by ocean and tradition

St. Patrick’s Day isn’t just celebrated in Dublin! The Hook Head lighthouse has also planned its own programme of festivities, and it promises to be a mouth-watering one!

First of all, the venue will be decked out in green on the big day, paying homage to Irish folklore and the symbols associated with the saint. The on-site coffee shop will be offering pastries and bright green decorations, while a “snake stilt” for children will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. on the lighthouse lawns.

The lighthouse, meanwhile, will be open to visitors, and all Patrick, Patricia, Paddy and Pat will be able to visit free of charge on presentation of their identity cards. For others, the rate will be the same as usual.

The tour will be accompanied by an inspired and mischievous guide, who will be brimming with anecdotes and humor about the lighthouse. You’ll learn that the 800-year-old Hook Head Lighthouse is the oldest operational lighthouse in the world. In remarkable condition, it is one of Ireland’s heritage treasures!

The tour ends at the top of the lighthouse, with spectacular views over the Celtic Sea and Waterford Estuary. A great moment, made even more special on Saint Patrick’s Day!
