Every year, the image creates a real buzz! A forest not far from Killea in County Donegal, Ireland, reveals a magnificent sight from the air! In autumn, a Celtic cross takes shape in the foliage of the trees. It’s far from a mystical phenomenon, but it creates the same sense of wonder every time!
Indeed, we owe this strange and magnificent phenomenon to the feat of one man: Liam Emmery, now deceased. The latter apparently had the crazy idea of “shaping” the forest in his own way, planting trees with more contrasting foliage over 10 years ago! His aim was to later obtain a shape similar to that of a Celtic cross.
A real feat, which unfortunately the latter didn’t have time to admire, as he passed away too soon.
Nevertheless, his work continues to this day, and every autumn, the Celtic cross is particularly visible! A cross to which the Irish seem very attached (remember that Ireland is a deeply Catholic country!).
Anyway, the mystery is solved… and the result is magnificent!
