Ireland: when a camper van gets caught in the tide…Inch Beach House & Cottages"/>
Un Camping-car victime de la marée sur Inch Beach - Inch Beach House & Cottages

The scene took place this weekend on the famous Inch beach in County Kerry, Ireland. A camper van decided to park right on the beach (a fairly common occurrence locally), and decided to go for a walk… Unfortunately for them, the tide would come in at full speed, quickly reaching the camper’s tires, and pushing the vehicle deeper into the soggy sand. A sadly common scene, with many motorhomes underestimating the dangers of the Irish tide…

A tractor is needed to lift the motorhome out of the water

The Irish mobilized to pull the vehicle from the road.

Although the scene may make you smile, it certainly didn’t go down well with the owners of the motorhome concerned. The latter came running back to their vehicle, seeing the damage and asking passers-by for help.

From then on, the Irish people mobilized, trying to push the vehicle, which was beginning to be seriously overtaken by water.

To no avail.

A tractor was needed to dislodge the camper. An operation which damaged the vehicle (not to mention the extremely corrosive salt, which may have weakened the chassis).

The scene was shared on Facebook by“Bed and Breakfast Inch Beach & Cottages“. Many have expressed their disappointment at this mishap for motorhome owners. Nevertheless, many Internet users have drawn their own conclusions: for them, a motorhome has no place on a beach. The tide can be a real hazard, and the situation could have been much worse… even leading to the loss of the vehicle.

This misadventure could serve as a lesson to others, and prevent future motorhomes from experiencing the same situation. We therefore advise you to park in official parking areas: parking on the beach may be a luxury, but it is not without consequences, not only for the environment, but also for your safety.
