After the success of “Riverdance, l’aventure animée” on Netflix, a brand new animated film “made in Ireland” is set to make its debut on the VOD platform this year. It’s My Father’s Dragon, produced by the world-famous Cartoon Saloon, a production company renowned for such masterpieces as Brendan and the Secret of Kells, Song of the Sea and Wolf Walkers. (The Kilkenny-based animation studio has also been nominated for five Oscars).
The eagerly-awaited new film is sure to appeal to young and old alike, and once again showcases Irish animation talent!
With each new film, Cartoon Saloon confirms its talent for entertainment and impeccably polished images. This will once again be the case with “My Father’s Dragon”, which will recount the epic adventures of Elmer, a little Irish boy determined to do everything in his power to save a dragon.
Here’s a synopsis:
Struggling to cope after a move to the city with his mother, Elmer flees in search of the secret island of Wild Island and a young dragon waiting to be rescued. Elmer’s adventures will take him down many adventurous paths, crossing paths with ferocious beasts, a mysterious island and an unforgettable friendship.
The story has been directly inspired by Ruth Stiles Gannett’s children’s book, and promises a tale rich in adventure and bravery. Children will undoubtedly enjoy this beautiful story about a dragon and a child. It’s a winning recipe that should bring Netflix plenty of viewings!
The platform has yet to announce an official release date. But the program is due to make its debut by 2022 (in France and other countries too).
In the meantime, you can (re)discover other Irish animated films on Netflix, such as“Angela’s Christmas” and“Riverdance, l’aventure animée“, which are still available on the platform! It’s always a pleasure to watch them!
