Will Irish pubs in Ireland really have to wait until August 10 to open their doors? It seems many of them have found a “trick” to open earlier than planned!

Nearly 44% of Dublin’s Irish Pubs Could Reopen by the End of June

Only Pubs with Restaurant Licenses Could Open Prematurely

Indeed, many Irish pubs plan to reopen as “restaurants” rather than as drinking establishments. By playing this card, numerous venues could reopen as early as June 29… all while staying within Irish law!

But how is this possible?

To understand better, it’s important to know that the Irish government set up a 5-step reopening plan. This plan prioritized reopening restaurants on June 29… and scheduled Irish pubs to resume activity last, on August 10.

This decision outraged many Irish pub owners, worried about surviving financially during such a prolonged closure.

Faced with this situation, many Irish people studied the law: only Irish pubs with a restaurant license can restart earlier than planned…

After investigation, it appears that 44% of Dublin’s Irish pubs intend to play the “restaurant” card to bounce back faster. This move doesn’t seem to be challenged by the Irish government for now.

So, it will likely be possible to enjoy a nice cold pint in Ireland as early as the end of June… on the express condition of ordering food on-site! It’s a great opportunity to reconnect with the best of traditional Irish cuisine, savoring a hearty Irish stew, smoked Irish salmon, or a homemade burger! What could be better?
