While the final season of Peaky Blinders is currently airing on Netlix, Cillian Murphy has revealed that a film project is currently being discussed with Steven Knight. Although Peaky Blinders is currently scheduled to take a break from series production, it could be time for the big-screen movie! To the delight of fans!
So the famous series isn’t quite coming to an end… Cillian Murphy has also made no secret of his desire to return to the big screen, once again playing the charismatic and legendary Thomas Shelby.
But be warned: it seems that the project is only at the draft stage:

It’s always a healthy thing and then we can get together. Steve is an incredibly busy and in-demand screenwriter, but I know he loves writing Peaky above all else.

Steven Knight also took the opportunity to give more information on the subject: the characters introduced in season 6 will be used to set the tone for the Peaky Blinders movie.
I know exactly what the film is about. And I know which two stories he’s going to tell. How the story will unfold, I don’t know. What happens next, I want it to depend on the film.
Early reports suggest that the film could be in theaters as early as 2023… It should focus on “a true story” from the Second World War, but told “Peaky-style”, concludes Steven Knight.
