Peaky Blinders film wraps up shooting. The director and creator of the “Peaky Blinders” series, Steven Knight, has just announced that he has completed the feature film, after several months’ work. No release date has yet been announced. But the film should hit cinemas in 2025. This is excellent news, not to mention the fact that the film in no way signals the death of Peaky Blinders… Other projects are still to come for Birmingham’s most famous gang!
Steven Knight caused quite a stir back in 2022, when he announced plans to bring Peaky Blinders back to life in a film. The promise was tantalizing: he would bring Thomas Shelby back to the days of the Second World War. A way of reinventing himself, while breathing new life into the characters of the original series.
As early as March 2024, Cillian Murphy had confirmed his participation in the film, before being joined by another fashionable Irishman: Barry Keoghan, made famous in particular for his role in the “Banshees of Inisherin”.
Since then, only the title has been revealed, and little footage of the shooting has been leaked… Called “The Immortal Man”, the film will plunge us into the heart of the Second World War and the tribulations of the Birmingham gang. On the program: ultra-articulate images, a rock’n’roll soundtrack and an atmosphere in the vein of the first episodes of the series.
Director Steve Knight made no secret of his excitement at having shot such a feature-length film:
Everything went perfectly. The cast is incredible.
It’s enough to raise the temperature among fans of the original show.
But that’s not all: Steve Knight let slip that other Peaky Blinders-related projects are already under negotiation.
He was asked: “Will there be other original creations based on the film? To which Steve Knight reportedly replied mischievously:
Well, it’s interesting that you should ask that question, because the film is coming out and it won’t be the end. It won’t be the end, let me put it that way. That’s all I’m saying.
This statement has delighted aficionados of the show, who are hoping to see more of the great Cillian Murphy in his iconic role as Thomas Shelby.
