Irish people who were struggling to cope with last week’s heatwave will be relieved to know that Ireland will be experiencing a heavy rainfall episode from today until Friday. Twelve Irish counties will experience rainy disturbances. A yellow and orange status warning was issued by the Met Eireann weather service.
After a heatwave in September, when Ireland enjoyed a veritable Indian summer, it’s now raining again! And these rainy spells are likely to be generous, to say the least.
Yellow and orange status warnings have been issued for all Munster counties, as well as Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Offaly and Wicklow.
Met Eireann fears a high risk of flooding, as well as particularly difficult travel conditions on Irish roads. The situation is set to start at 6.00 pm on Thursday and continue until 6.00 pm on Friday.
The rain is expected to hit the south coast first, before moving further north.
The relevant services have advised Irish people to limit their movements and avoid any risky behavior.
