It seems that the producers of the Star Wars saga have literally set their sights on Ireland… After the majestic island of Skellig Michael was featured in the brand-new Star Wars episode “The Force Awakens”, the production team is now looking for new locations in Ireland to film the next episode!
As a result, the production has already obtained permission to film certain scenes in exceptionally beautiful locations! This would involve :
- Ceann Sibeal on the Dingle Peninsula,
- but also from Malin Head in County Donegal.
These two enchanting locations will probably serve as the backdrop for the adventures of Luke Skywalker, then in exile on the desert planet of Ahch-To. (For the moment, this is just a guess, as the teams have not yet begun filming). Rocky seascapes contrast sharply with lush green plains! Whether you’re a fan of Irish landscapes or Star Wars!
One thing’s for sure: the choice of Ireland should once again boost tourist numbers in these parts. It would be no surprise if many aficionados decided to pay a visit to these magical places, to relive the great Star Wars thrill!
