The Dockers, an Irish pub in Dublin, reopens after a 15-year absence. Considered one of the trendiest establishments of its time, it was also a favorite haunt of the Irish band U2, who enjoyed spending time there over a pint and a moment of relaxation in the 80s and 90s.
It has to be said that, apart from its ambience, the Dockers had the advantage of being close to Windmill Lane studio, where the band recorded many of their early albums. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen regularly went to the Dockers for a few beers to unwind after their recording sessions.
At the time, the venue was well known to fans, and many aficionados of the band’s music came to the Dockers to meet their favourite artists!
It was a heartbreaker for the entire Dublin community when the Pub decided to close its doors…
Fortunately, Dockers is set to rise from the ashes and open in December 2020. This is good news, and should re-attract fans from the early days, and who knows… maybe U2 will drop in for a nostalgic visit!
