A continental-style food market is set to take over Dublin’s vacant former St Andrew’s Church. The large-scale project promises to create a vast market, with 12 pitches able to accommodate numerous vendors. He plans to offer future visitors a wide range of stalls featuring world cuisine, as well as artisanal products!
A market in a church? This is the new project for the city of Dublin! And for the occasion, the Martin Barry group, already present in several European cities with its Manifesto Market brand, will take the helm of the project.
The market will be held on Dublin 2’s Suffolk Street, where St Andrew’s Church stands, right next to the famous Molly Malone statue.
The market, meanwhile, will include not only sales stands, but also a large catering hall and a multi-purpose area for hosting events of all kinds (concerts, artistic shows, etc.).
Manifesto Market is due to move in by early 2025.
This initiative is all the more welcome as Dublin has no shortage of derelict buildings.
Before being handed over to the Martin Barry Group, the church was owned by the Irish state and was formerly used as a tourist information center. Thanks to its exceptional location, close to the Molly Malone statue, the place seems ideal for attracting crowds, from Dubliners to tourists in search of culinary adventures!
