The very first virtual Irish pub has just opened its doors!

There’s nothing more sacred to the Irish than the chance to visit a good old Irish pub on a regular basis. A chance to chat with friends, listen to a concert of traditional Irish music, watch a hurling match… all while sipping a pint or two.

Unfortunately, this tradition has been undermined by the current COVID-19 confinement in Ireland. But some inventive Irish hoteliers (Sebastien Conway, Tim Cole and Doug Leddin) have just launched a brand new concept: a virtual Irish pub! Access is free and open to all!

It only took a few weeks for the concept’s authors to deliver their site. And the result is pretty cool!

The aim: to recreate the experience of a real Irish pub, but online. It’s an opportunity for the confined Irish to feel like they’re getting back to their roots, to be able to chat with their usual friends, without having to leave their homes.

The Pub.ie

This innovative idea is called“ThePub.ie“. The system brings together a number of technologies, allowing you to “sit down” and chat with your friends via webcam. All in an atmosphere worthy of an Irish pub (with music, background noise…etc.).

To get there, simply go to the website, register, and choose your preferred method… You can sit down at a private table with people you already know… where you can choose to meet new people! After that, you’re free to spend hours on the website, chatting the night away! It’s worth noting, however, that everyone will have to rely on the resources of their own fridge for a drink (in moderation, as always).

A really cool way to reconnect with others, from the comfort of your own sofa!

The site is already planning themed evenings and table-specific quizzes. Concerts will also be broadcast to enhance the atmosphere.

Pubs play a key role in bringing communities together, and as hospitality professionals, we wanted to create something that allowed guests to experience the ambience of a real Irish pub. Social distancing doesn’t necessarily mean anti-social, and we hope to reconnect friends and create new friendships through this new site.

A nice change from the traditional social networking experience. The Pub is definitely a 100% Irish approach, which should help Irish people spend their time less alone!
