Busáras is the largest bus station in Dublin, Ireland. It’s located in the heart of the city near the docks, and offers regular bus services that can take you anywhere in Ireland. In other words, it’s a must for backpackers who want to cross the country by bus!
If you’d like to venture outside Dublin’s walls, and you’re not too keen on renting a car, don’t hesitate to head for the city’s northern docks. It’s here in Busáras that you’ll find most of the country’s national connections.
The big advantage is that it’s close to the River Liffey and to many of Dublin’s major attractions, such as Custom House and the financial district. A perfect location for visitors and residents alike.
Inaugurated in 1953, this bus station carries thousands of passengers every day and is famous for its avant-garde architecture, designed by architect Michael Scott. In fact, the building was a symbol of modernity in the 1950s: it incorporates elements of functionalist design and modern art.
The station offers intercity bus services operated mainly by Bus Éireann, the national bus company.
Lines connect Dublin to numerous cities across Ireland, including Cork, Galway, Limerick and Belfast.
In addition to intercity services, Busáras is also a transit point for local and express services. Starting with the Luas, Dublin’s tramway, which passes through this station.
