Leinster is one of Ireland’s 4 provinces. Located on the eastern side of the island, it’s one of Ireland’s most densely populated provinces, thanks to its many conurbations and the presence of Dublin, the Irish capital where “everything happens”. One thing’s for sure: this region lives up to its popularity, with the energy of big cities and the beauty of the great Irish countryside!

History of Leinster

The origins of County Leinster date back to the 3rd century, when the island of Ireland was under the authority of regional kings, ruling over 5 kingdoms, of which Leinster was one. Over the centuries, Leinster has become an increasingly prized province for kings, who have not hesitated to fight each other for the territory.

Today, the region boasts 12 very active counties, both economically and culturally.

The development of these various urban centers has made the region particularly competitive, and has attracted a number of major foreign companies. Today, Dublin remains Leinster’s strategic point, due to its status as the capital and its constant hustle and bustle.
