For thrill-seekers, Ireland’s rivers are a veritable playground for rafting! If you’re not afraid of getting splashed, and you like group experiences, then you’re in for a treat: rafting in Ireland is for those who aren’t afraid of getting wet!
In Ireland, rivers and streams are the prey of extreme sports! As well as coasteering, water skiing and other water-based sports, one of the most physical is undoubtedly rafting!
Rafting can be practised in groups, in specialised clubs, on the Liffey, the Shannon, and other rivers in Northern Ireland such as the Lagan! Physical and demanding, it is nevertheless suitable for all ages (over 12), and requires no fear of water…
In terms of equipment, you’ll need a wetsuit (the water can sometimes be a bit cold!), a helmet and a lifejacket… Everything is provided by the rafting club, who will also be happy to give you a briefing on the sport before you set off to tackle the currents.
