While some tracks have already hit the airwaves, such as the excellent “You’re The Best Thing About Me”, U2 have just announced the official release of their forthcoming album on December 1. A date eagerly awaited by fans, who will be able to listen to the 13 tracks on the new opus, entitled “Songs Of Experience”.
According to the band, this album was built on the principle of a collection of “intimate letters”, in which Bono would address his loved ones as if he had just died. The idea was inspired by Brendan Kennelly, one of Ireland’s most famous contemporary poets.
“Write as if you were dead“: a piece of advice that Bono was quick to apply, composing songs addressed to his family, friends, fans and even himself. A kind of introspection, and hindsight on one’s life and experience. A way of taking stock of his life, at the age of 57, by imagining his death and the consequences it would entail.
The “Songs of Experience” album will be released on December 1: a great idea for a Christmas present!
