U2 fans are in for a treat. A brand new mobile application, called U2’s Dublin, has just been released. It offers a tour of Dublin’s must-see places… all closely linked to the history of the famous Irish band U2! A cool and innovative idea, which should allow travelers to take a rock’n’roll tour of the Irish capital.
For those who don’t know: U2 is an Irish band. Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Junior all cut their musical teeth here in Dublin… And have never ceased to affirm their attachment to the city, and to the rest of Ireland.
That’s why Dan O’Connor, a musician and fan of the band, had the brilliant idea of creating a mobile application dedicated to Dublin and the famous Irish rock band. The concept is simple: list all the tourist sites in County Dublin whose history is in some way linked to U2.
Fans can take a journey of initiation in the footsteps of their favourite band!
The app lists over 145 different locations around Dublin, offering anecdotes and other fascinating details about the group.
For example, he introduces a Dublin store called “Bonavox”, a hearing specialist located on North Earl Street, which ended up being the inspiration for Bono’s stage name.
Other destinations listed on the app include the Harcourt Hotel, formerly Keystone Studio, where U2 recorded their very first demo.
It’s also possible to see where Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam first played together.
Combining the city’s history with that of U2, the app can be downloaded free of charge on Android and iOS. It promises a different way of discovering Dublin, far from the beaten track. Enough to delight fans of the early days, and discover Dublin in a new light, 100% rock’n’roll.
The app is available on Android and Apple free of charge. Don’t hesitate to download it: it might just inspire you for your next trip!
