Cathedral Quarter

The Cathedral Quarter is undoubtedly one of Belfast’s liveliest neighborhoods! This is where you’ll find plenty of shops, Irish pubs and restaurants: a sort of Temple Bar but in Belfast!

Visit the Cathedral Quarter

The part of Belfast where it all happens!

Conveniently located, the Cathedral Quarter gets its name from the presence of St Annes Cathedral, which stands right in the heart of the district. Historically considered to be Belfast’s oldest shopping district, the area is now recognized as a cultural district, conducive to craft trade, culture and exchange between locals and tourists.

The area boasts a cinema, a theater, museums and numerous literary pubs, where shows, exhibitions, music sessions and arthouse film screenings take place. Best of all, the district is considered THE cultural meeting place of the city. The Cathedral Quarter is home to open-air concerts, events and festivals of all kinds!

It’s the best place to eat, shop and discover the best of Northern Irish culture!

It’s worth noting, however, that the district is currently undergoing a complete overhaul: a number of private investors have chosen to renovate the area, which is still in a sorry state in places (broken roads and sidewalks, graffiti, etc.). Within a few years, the entire Cathedral Quarter will be brand new! (But don’t let that put you off: it’s worth a visit even in its current state!)
