It’s County Wicklow’s newest tourist attraction! Opening in July 2022, Beyond the trees Avondale offers a unique experience in Avondale Forest Park! The site offers an elevated walk in the trees, more than 38 metres above the ground! It’s an opportunity to overlook the forest and admire the treetops and Wicklow countryside!

Entitled “Beyond the trees Avondale”, the attraction cost almost 19 million euros! The installation is certainly impressive!
It’s a kind of wooden walkway (dubbed “Treetop Walk”), made entirely of Douglas fir. Its dimensions are impressive: it rises to an altitude of almost 40 metres, and is almost 700 metres wide!
The site is wheelchair accessible and offers breathtaking views of the county, Avondale House, the Avondale Arboretum and the River Avonmore below. You’ll also catch a glimpse of the superb “Great Ride” trail: a sure bet for an unforgettable hike in the heart of nature!
As well as incredible views, the walk offers information points and small crossing challenges for the more adventurous.
But that’s not all! The attraction also features a 12-storey observation tower, which is also fully wheelchair accessible. It’s the first of its kind in Ireland! It features an observation platform at the top and a 90-metre spiral slide that circles the tower for those who want a thrilling descent!
The slide itself is the highest in Ireland, offering visitors a thrilling final experience.
In addition, there are 3 trails scattered throughout the forest park. It’s a great opportunity to get out into nature, enjoy the forest, and discover the flora and fauna of Wickow!

Beyond the trees Avondale has a visitor center, picnic areas, children’s play areas and a café (the Seed Café).
Avondale Forest Park is 64 km from Dublin city center.
Visitors to Dublin can take the Rosslare Europort Service train to Rathdrum, a 30-minute walk from the park.
There is also a daily local bus service (no. 133L) from Wicklow town to Rathdrum.
A 400-space parking lot is available for parking close to Beyond the trees Avondale. Count €5 for the day. Six charging stations are also available for electric vehicles.
