Right in the heart of Belfast, on the EastSide, lies CS Lewis Square, a public space entirely dedicated to C.S. Lewis, the Northern Irish writer who penned “The World of Narnia” in the 1950s. It’s the perfect place for literature lovers to find numerous references to the novel. The program includes sculptures, cafés, walking trails and stores!
If you love C.S. Lewis, then you’ll love the place dedicated to him! CS Lewis Square is a public space that pays vibrant tribute to the man who wrote “The World of Narnia”.
Located at the intersection of the Connswater and Comber greenways, next to the EastSide Visitor Center, the site is a cultural and artistic meeting place, with many references to the work of C.S. Lewis.
The 7 magnificent sculptures, signed by Irish artist Maurice Harron, depict Mr. Tumnus, Maugrim, the White Witch, Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, the Stone Table, the Robin and the lion Aslan… emblematic figures from the World of Narnia!
The center also features a café-bar, named after CS Lewis, affectionately nicknamed “Jack” by friends and family. JACK Coffee Bar offers a warm welcome and comforting drinks, as well as art exhibitions and the sale of local food products.
The square also boasts a health and wellness center called “The Arches”, a Connswater community center and a public library called “Holywood Arches”.
The icing on the cake: CS Lewis Square boasts a number of walking trails, so don’t hesitate to pick up a route map at the EastSide Visitor Center. It’s the perfect opportunity to discover an area of Belfast that’s constantly on the move.
The Square is open 24 hours a day, every day, and is lit up all night long for late-night strollers!
