Visit Dalkey Castle

A château appreciated for its cachet!

Dalkey Castle is a 14th-century castle in the heart of Dalkey. It was here in 1830 that a superb Viking treasure of over 900 gold coins was discovered. Today, the spoils are on display at the British Museum in London.

The castle tour is open to visitors, and will take you through the various large rooms of the fortress. You can also enjoy open-air shows every 30 minutes led by talented entertainers. You’ll see archers handling bows and lethal arrows to perfection on period targets, knightly combat, and actors portraying everyday Irish medieval life…

You’ll be able to spy on the castle’s busy kitchens, or even take a trip to the local barbershop to get your hair or beard cut the old-fashioned way!
