The Doagh Famine Village is a cultural museum where you can walk through a fully reconstructed village. He will introduce you to the different ways of Irish life through the centuries…
You’ll start with the inevitable episode of the Great Famine, when over 25% of the Irish population was decimated by hunger. You’ll discover the key dates of this sad era, the causes of the famine, and the latent conflict between the British and the Irish.
Then came land reform, the War of Independence and the Civil War of 1910-1920.
The museum is very well documented, with explanatory panels and life-size reconstructions. A fun and interesting visit, even if the museum is geared more towards adults.
