Glasnevin Cemetery is a Dublin museum and cemetery housing the graves of great figures in Irish history… The equivalent of Père Lachaise Cemetery in Paris, Glasnevin Cemetery (also known as Prospect Cemetery) is located to the north of Dublin, and welcomes many tourists who come to discover the graves of Irish celebrities.

Glasnevin Cemetery opened in 1832… It is a cemetery that very quickly welcomes its first graves… From its opening to the present day, Glasnevin Cemetery has become a graveyard for great personalities as well as the anonymous, lost in a field of gravestones and Celtic crosses…

Since 1832, the cemetery has housed the graves of leading political figures, revolutionary nationalists, actors and actresses, as well as the great intellectuals of the time:

The Cemetery can be visited on a Guided Tour… The cost is €5 per person, and will enable you to discover the history of the cemetery, as well as the lives of the great men and women buried here in Glasnevin… The tour is quite interesting, and will take you between the tombs of great personalities, in chronological order, to introduce you to Irish history from the 19th to the 21st century…

Discover the heroic deeds of great nationalist revolutionaries such as Constance Markievicz, or Michael Collins, a true icon of the Irish nationalist struggle… More recently, you will also discover the terrible story of Veronica Guerin (1959-1996), an Irish journalist for the Sunday Independent, who devoted her investigations to the world of drugs… The latter was later murdered by drug barons, who considered the young journalist too dangerous for their activities.
