Glencar Lake is an Irish lake in County Leitrim. Magnificent and untamed, it’s an ideal place to stroll, fish for wild salmon and enjoy a complete change of scenery! Not to be missed is the magnificent Glencar Waterfall, located in the forest not far from the lake shore: a sight worth seeing!

Glencar Lake is the perfect place for wilderness lovers. Here you’ll find postcard-worthy landscapes, with surrounding mountains, mysterious waters and plant-lined shores! There’s also a path that takes you along the shoreline, giving you the chance to admire the view, the birds nesting near the lake, and the Dartry Mountains.
The site is beautiful and bucolic, and the walking trail has the advantage of being suitable for the whole family. There’s no change in altitude here, nor any difficulty: the walk is easy enough for everyone (although there is no disabled access).
The shoreline allows you to follow the lake from one end to the other. Don’t hesitate to stop for a break or a picnic by the water. Finally, Glencar Lake is one of the lakes where salmon fishing is permitted! (Subject to purchase of a permit).
So all you have to do is get organized to go fish-fishing, and enjoy the silence of the place… in total peace and quiet!
