Inisheer Lighthouse is a lighthouse on Inisheer Island. Easy to recognize with its horizontal black and white stripes, it is still in operation, guiding approaching boats every day. A lighthouse to see up close!

The Inisheer lighthouse has been in existence since the 19th century and has recently been renovated and automated. Unfortunately, it’s not possible to visit the lighthouse from the inside, but it’s well worth the detour.
You’ll have plenty of time to admire it from the outside, and to get up close and personal with its architecture and lens. At night, you’ll see it twirling to illuminate boats approaching the Aran Islands: a truly awesome experience!
The lighthouse walls are particularly thick, up to 1 metre thick. Very solid, it’s built to withstand heavy seas, and below it are the old houses of the lighthouse keepers from the turn of the century.
The location of the Inisheer lighthouse also makes it a great spot to enjoy beautiful panoramic views. On the program: iodized wind, swell and big waves! A spectacular view that will remind you of Inisheer’s island character! What’s more, the locals love to stop off for a spot of fishing. You can cast your line and enjoy the island’s 100% wilderness environment!
