Lough Ennell is an Irish lake in County Westmeath, close to the town of Mullingar. Lough Ennell is a favorite with anglers and is home to some of the region’s finest wild trout…

Visit Lough Ennell

Lough Ennell lake is around 8km long and 4km wide. The shallow, slightly oval-shaped lake is crossed by the River Brosna, a tributary of the Shannon.

Lough Ennell alone is a “place of pilgrimage” for avid anglers who come to tease trout and gudgeon. Record catches have been made here, with the biggest trout weighing over 11.5 kgs! So don’t forget your fishing rod: motorboats and rowboats can be hired to venture further afield on the lake’s calm waters.

The surroundings of Lough Ennell are ideal for those who love peace and quiet. Only a golf course, located near Mullingar on the northeastern shores of the lake, attracts visitors to the region… To put it plainly: Lough Ennell is a little haven of peace where you can cast your line!
