Visiter Mayo dark sky park.

Mayo Dark Sky Park is Ireland’s very first dark sky reserve. Nestled between the remote Nephin Mountains and the Atlantic coast, Dark Sky Park extends over 150 km2 and covers Ballycroy and Wild Nephin National Park. A great park for admiring the sky and its brightest stars! An unforgettable experience for astronomy and nature lovers!

Mayo Dark Sky Park

A breathtaking reserve of starry skies

Just imagine: the Irish wilderness, not a sound, not a sound, and you, immersed in this idyllic setting, your head in the air, with thousands of stars above you. No city lights: just you, your friends or family, together to share this special moment!

This is what Mayo Dark Sky Park has to offer. On a clear night in Mayo, you can dream away at over 4,500 twinkling stars, as well as other planets in our solar system, the Milky Way and even meteors, all visible to the naked eye.

The park has 3 sky observation points, located in easily accessible areas.

The 3 offer an exceptional view of the sky, with no human light pollution from the cities.

Choose a night with clear skies, and don’t forget to set off in a group, with hiking boots, flashlights and warm clothing.

Even better: an evening picnic can add an extra touch of charm to this unusual and romantic outing!
