Royal Portrush Golf Club is a long-established golf course. It was founded in 1888 as “The County Club”.

It was then renamed “The Royal County Club” in 1892 when the Prince of Wales (later King Edward VII) granted his royal patronage.

In 1895, the club changed its name again to the Royal Portrush Golf Club.

Since then, it has become the preferred course for golf enthusiasts and professionals alike.

Among its many highlights, Royal Portrush is famous for hosting a number of major tournaments, including several Open Championships. The first Open Championship to be held outside Scotland took place here, on the lawn of Royal Portrush, in 1951.

Over the years, the club has also hosted other prestigious tournaments, including the Irish Open and the Senior British Open, attracting renowned golfers and golf fans from around the world.
