Located near Mill Lane in Shankill, Shanganagh Castle was inhabited by his descendants until 1763…

It is said to have been the victim of a terrible fire in 1783, transforming the fortress into a veritable heap of ruins…

During the late 18th century, a manor house of the same name was rebuilt on extensive land on Shankill’s border with County Wicklow. It was subsequently used as a juvenile prison between 1969 and 2002.
