Swords Castle was once built as a residence for the Archbishops of Dublin. Covering an area of over 6000m², it features a north tower, a fortified enclosure, a chapel and a pretty garden. Access is partial: only the tower is open to visitors, for the modest sum of €5, and offers a breathtaking view of the city and its surroundings.
Don’t miss its exceptional architecture, the beauty of its fortifications, and the surrounding nature: it’s an enchanting sight!
The castle has recently been renovated, and in 2010 was even used as a film location for the series “The Tudors”.
