Right on the Wild Atlantic Way lies the magnificent Back Strand Beach, an Irish beach in County Donegal. Magnificent, it offers wild landscapes that change with the tide. A magnificent and exceptional place, rather confidential and little frequented by tourists. A nice beach to lay your towel on or simply stroll along!
Back Strand beach is not far from the village of Falcarragh, and offers a superb playground for families, couples and friends. It has to be said that you won’t be stepping on any toes there: the beach is gigantic and stretches for miles! The sand is fine and pleasant, ideal for barefoot strolls (and very healthy too!)!
It’s a popular spot for swimming (preferable during the summer for those with a chill). We love its authentic, unspoilt setting: the beach is clean and the scenery magnificent. As for the water, it’s rather cold, but rich in fish: the bravest can therefore equip themselves with a mask, snorkel and wetsuit to go and meet the species of the Atlantic!
Finally, surfers can also enjoy some rather interesting rollers: it’s all a question of weather, of course, but the beach generally attracts lovers of good waves.
As for children, they’ll love sand and its infinite creative possibilities! Castles, digging holes: they’ll be thrilled and won’t want to leave!
In short, Back Strand Beach is a really nice beach for taking in the sights and taking a deep breath of iodine before pushing open the door of a pub!
Parking is available on the beach. Once again, the area is not very busy, and you’ll have no trouble finding a place.
