Galway Atlantaquaria is Ireland’s largest national aquarium. With its 170 marine and freshwater species, the site is one of the region’s most popular tourist destinations. Seahorses, rays, sharks… you’ll discover some of the world’s most beautiful aquatic specimens, and even get the chance to feed them!
The Galway Atlantaquaria is located on the Salthill seafront, overlooking Galway Bay. Rather large, it allows you to admire and interact with starfish, spiders, crabs, octopus, impressive groupers and even sharks! You can also admire the impressive skeleton of an enormous whale.
The tour is very entertaining, and well suited to children. Exhibitions and touch-screen terminals will tell you all about the secrets of these marine species, and guided tours will give you the chance to ask questions to real marine life professionals.
Allow around 1 hour for a tour: the aquariums are magnificent, very well maintained, and some species are particularly fascinating!
