The Lewis Glucksman Gallery is an Irish art gallery located in the heart of the University of Cork. With its futuristic metal architecture, this museum offers temporary exhibitions devoted entirely to contemporary art!
Opened in 2004, the Lewis Glucksman Gallery has distinguished itself not only for the quality of its exhibitions, but also for the beauty of its building. Voted best public building in June 2005, the museum has won numerous awards for the beauty of its architecture (designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey).
Spread over 3 floors, the gallery regularly presents high-quality, multi-disciplinary exhibitions, ranging from photography and sculpture to painting and installations. The beauty of the setting makes this a very pleasant museum, where it’s good to wander through the works on display. Access is free, and university students like to spend a few hours there between classes…
However, some central themes remain recurrent, such as the theme of early childhood in contemporary photography, the paradox of feminism and the reinterpretation of modern art.
