The Medieval Museum is part of theWaterford Museum of Treasures complex. One of Waterford’s 3 museums, it pays tribute to the city’s great historical periods. More specifically, this establishment is dedicated to the Irish Middle Ages. Its aim: to present and tell the story of Waterford in medieval times… Battles, everyday objects, clothes, paintings… You’ll know everything there is to know about the city’s history!
The museum is located near Cathedral Square in Waterford town center. Awarded many times over for the quality of its exhibits, the establishment has 2 main halls:
Among the museum’s finest pieces, don’t miss Henry VIII’s cap: the only surviving item of clothing worn by the English monarch.
And don’t forget to admire the 4-metre Magna Carta, dating from 1372, as well as the 15th-century gold cloth garments.
Finally, you’ll also pass a magnificent representation of King Edward III of England, in armor on his horse.
