Giant sculptures pay tribute to Northern Ireland

Sometimes art meets nature. And the result is simply harmonious! If you have any doubts, we’d like to meet you in the Sperrins, Northern Ireland’s famous mountains.

You’ll come across three large sculptures by Thomas Dambo. Made of metal, they feature large-scale sculptures referencing Northern Ireland’s history, legends and folklore.

These imposing sculptures stand proudly in their respective sites, paying homage to the giants’ ancient connection with the Sperrin landscape.

Here is an overview of these installations:

  1. Nowanois: The Storytellers in Glenelly Valley, near Cranagh (274 Glenelly Road, Omagh).
  2. Darach: The Guardian on Mullaghcarn Mountain (Gortin Glen Forest Park, Glen Park Road, Gortin).
  3. Ceoldán: The Stargazer at Davagh Forest (OM Dark Sky Park and Observatory, 155 Davagh Road, Omagh).

These imposing figures are a tribute to the ancestral link with the Sperrins landscape, inviting reflection and imagination.
