The Wicklow Head Ligthouse is an Irish lighthouse in County Wicklow overlooking the ocean. Rather atypical, it is entirely gray, and has a rather austere appearance.
Although the lighthouse is not open to visitors, there’s nothing to stop you getting close and taking a tour! It’s worth noting that it overlooks the bay and offers a pretty nice view of the ocean!
The lighthouse is octagonal in shape and extends over 5 floors. Still in operation, it has been automated to avoid the need for a watchman, and lights up every night to guide approaching boats.
This atypical lighthouse has a certain charm thanks to its location in the middle of the wilderness, close to the ocean. A nice place, but let’s be clear: Wicklow Head Lighthouse isn’t exactly Ireland’s finest lighthouse.
