Wicklow Brewery is an Irish microbrewery located in Redcross, County Wicklow, Ireland. It produces some very interesting local beers, using age-old traditional techniques. A reputable establishment, willing to open its doors to reveal its brewing secrets.
The history of the Wicklow brewery is quite amusing. It all started with Ashley and Leigh Williams, who transformed a café to create the Mickey Finn, a cool and friendly Irish pub where it was good to spend time. Soon, the regulars started asking if they had any local beers…
This gave them an idea: what if they started brewing their own beer, using the water from their well?
The idea of creating Wicklow Brewing was born.
Today, the brewery produces a number of fine beers, including Helles, St Kevin’s Red, Weiss, Black 16 Stout, Hopknut and Gingerknut.
Such was the success of these beers that they can now be found just about everywhere in the country… But there’s nothing like tasting it on site at the parent company, during a guided tour of the brewery.
The tour includes an audiovisual presentation, a personalized tour of the brewery and a tasting of 5 samples of their beers. The guides are passionate, cool and friendly. The visit is friendly, with no fuss or high-tech exhibits: the team prefers simplicity and authenticity.
