Swords Boot Inn forced to close for Dublin Airport expansion needs

The Boot Inn, a 430-year-old Irish pub in Swords, has sadly gone out of business. It has been open since 1593, without interruption… This sad news was greeted with emotion by the establishment’s regulars.

The Boot Inn, a historic institution!

A closure that provoked indignation among local residents

Located right next to Dublin Airport, the Boot Inn has always been an excellent address for travelers waiting for their flight. Considered one of Dublin’s best addresses, and one of the oldest along with the Brazen Head, the Boot Inn’s closure marked the end of an era.

For the Pub had the distinction of boasting a breathtaking view of the airport runways, as well as a typically Irish atmosphere, with its chilled pints, traditional music sessions and friendly owners.

A fine address, with a history spanning several centuries.

But those days are over. The site was closed for the expansion of Dublin Airport. The site is to be demolished to make way for new airport infrastructure.

The local community was devastated by the mess, and took to the web to show their support for Boot Inn owners John and Catherine.
