Grogan’s is a 100% retro, old-school Irish pub, located south of Temple Bar in Dublin. Founded in 1899, it is one of the local institutions and has welcomed celebrities such as Bono, Brendan Gleeson and Amy Schumer. But be warned: Grogan’s keeps things simple and to the point: no TV, no music. Grogan’s is all about conviviality and customer relations!
Grogan’s is a minimalist Irish pub. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a simple pint in a cosy setting steeped in history, and to discover a pub that gets straight to the point!
You can eat on site, but the dishes are also simple: cheddar cheese, ham toast… Forget satiating dishes: we’re more into snacks and aperitifs than real meals! Finally, the pub offers a rather short drinks menu: beers, whiskeys, a few soft drinks… Cocktail connoisseurs need not bother!
While this minimalism may put some people off, it’s also a guarantee of an authentic establishment, with walls lined with paintings by local artists. The staff are great, friendly and easy to talk to.
The people you meet are all fascinating, and offer a lovely portrait of Dublin in all its cosmopolitan glory!
Finally, please note that the establishment only accepts payment in cash… Forget your credit card at home: Grogan’s refuses to accept any alternative to cash!
