If you want to eat in an authentic, home-cooked setting, then The Old Mill is the place for you. Irish music, typical Irish pub decor, subdued lighting and generous cuisine, straight from the traditional Irish terroir.
The à la carte menu features the great classics of Irish cuisine: full Irish breakfast (traditional Irish breakfast served from 10:00 to 15:00), fish and chips, homemade burger, Guinness stew, bangers and mash, surf and turf, chicken wings, cottage pie…and more.
Everything is delicious and perfectly mastered, from the cooking to the presentation. Here, the focus is on the essentials: tastes are simple and pronounced, everything is homemade, and dishes retain a rusticity typical of an Irish pub (with hearty portions, where the product is given pride of place in its simplest expression).
As for prices, you can get away with €20-25 per person. A price tag to match the dishes, and the geographical area (we remind you that we’re in Temple Bar, an ultra-touristy district, which quickly drives up prices.
As for the service, nothing to say. Every customer is greeted with a smile, seated with care and served quickly and efficiently.
It should be noted, however, that the establishment can sometimes be a victim of its own success: in high season, queues can build up right up to the outside of the restaurant. In such cases, take our advice: walk away, and come back another day… unless you’re prepared to wait more than 30 minutes on your feet.
An excellent address, though, and well worth a visit for fish and chips, Irish breakfast or a simple burger.
