As the final season of the Peaky Blinders series hits Netflix today, Northern Ireland’s Bushmills brand has decided to launch a limited-edition whisky in tribute to the famous TV show! This whiskey, called “Prohibition Recipe”, was produced especially for the series, and features a look and label bearing the effigy of Thomas Shelby, played by the famous Cillian Murphy.

Bushmills builds on Peaky Blinders success

A whiskey that appeals to the codes of the Prohibition era!

In case you’ve been living in a cave for the past 6 years, the Peaky Blinders series has enjoyed unprecedented success around the world! The quality of its screenplay (which tells the story of a family of thugs living in Birmingham), its ultra-polished images and its anachronistic rock’n’roll soundtrack have made it one of the most interesting sure-fire hits of recent years!

To mark the occasion, the Northern Irish distillery Bushmills came up with the idea of launching a brand new limited edition whiskey. The latter pays a vibrant tribute to the series, offering a beverage in the spirit of the 1920s-1930s Prohibition era.

Easy to recognize, the bottle has a retro design, with a label featuring a portrait of Tom Shelby, wearing his famous cap with razor blades hidden in the back of the visor. He’s the relentless leader of the Peaky Blinders, a cold and tortured man, a shrewd strategist consumed by ambition.

The label reads: “By order of the Shelby Company Ltd”. A nice wink, giving the impression that the whiskey has just come out of the Peaky Blinders distillery!

Bushmills has named its whiskey “Prohibition Recipe”. More precisely, it’s a blend, made from malted barley and water from Knappogue Castle, a castle in County Clare, Ireland.

This is a 100% Irish whiskey, aged in bourbon casks.

The whisky was carefully supervised by master distiller Colum Egan to create a special series for consumers: a whisky faithful to the Peaky Blinders era – a taste of Prohibition – but which develops a certain complexity and intensity on the palate.

On tasting, the whiskey displays aromas of caramel, vanilla, sage, oats, orange and rye. A well-balanced, refined package that should delight fans of the show!

For the moment, the bottle is only available in the United States at a price of 28 euros.

No details have been given as to whether the product will be marketed in Europe…
