The Irish airline Aer Lingus has just completed its first flight to China. Its mission: to bring back over 28 million euros worth of personal protective equipment (PPE) destined for doctors and nurses currently fighting COVID-19. The cargo includes masks, gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing all sourced from China, providing crucial support to Irish medical staff.

The Airline Plans Multiple Flights to Better Equip Ireland

This inaugural flight was already a success, with the Irish plane landing in Dublin at 4:00 PM after departing China early that morning. The equipment has been unloaded and is already being distributed across Irish hospitals.

A strong gesture from the airline, demonstrating its solidarity with Ireland by converting commercial flights into medical supply missions.

And the airline isn’t stopping there: it plans to mobilize 10 of its Airbus A330s to bring in even more equipment from China. The company aims to transport over 200 million euros worth of medical supplies in the coming weeks.

This effort will help Ireland better combat COVID-19 by reducing the risk of virus transmission among Irish healthcare workers.
