Great news for Ireland: the country’s health officials have confirmed that no deaths were recorded in the last 24 hours. This is the first time in two months that the Emerald Isle has reported zero deaths. An encouraging sign that the government’s lockdown strategy is paying off!
Covid-19: Fewer and Fewer Deaths
Few New Cases and a Significant Drop in ICU Hospitalizations
Although Covid-19 is still circulating, it appears increasingly weakened. With a total of 24,698 confirmed cases and fewer than 59 new cases reported today, the situation in Ireland seems to be improving.
The country is seeing fewer hospital admissions due to coronavirus. The indicators are positive, and fewer Irish people are being infected by the virus.
Medical staff are growing more confident and seem to believe in a possible eradication of the virus on the island. However, Irish doctors and virologists urge caution, aware that any relaxation by the public could trigger a potential second wave.
“It is the collective behavior of each individual that will determine the course of this disease,” said Ronan Glynn, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Department of Health
As a reminder, the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Ireland stands at 1,606.
The slowdown of the virus in Ireland can currently be attributed to the lockdown measures implemented by the Irish government. Many scientific theories also suggest that coronavirus could be a seasonal virus… which might also explain this clear slowdown of the epidemic across Irish territory.
