The Irish hunter is a cross between an Irish draught horse and an Irish thoroughbred. Mainly used for hunting, this horse is a half-blood, much appreciated for its sporting performance and speed.
The Irish hunter has been around since medieval times, when local nobles entertained themselves by hunting in the wilds of Ireland. Keen to have efficient horses capable of chasing fast prey, the Irish decided to cross an Irish thoroughbred with a half-blood, thus creating the “Irish Hunter”.
Measuring 1.70 m, he is a good jumper, tough and solid, capable of carrying his rider through long hours of stalking.
Docile and calm, it is very pleasant to train and can be used for hiking. We can even offer you the chance to ride an Irish hunter on an Irish tour!
