Did you know? Guinness produces more than just its eponymous beer. It offers a wide range of variants and is constantly expanding its product range! Guinness Hop House 13 Lager is proof of this: it’s a beer brewed by the group, but it’s still very different from the traditional Irish pint of Guinness! A drink that aims to conquer a new market… and diversify among regulars!
In Dublin, Guinness has numerous buildings dedicated to the brewing of its beer. And there’s one in particular, called “Hop House 13″… one of the band’s nuggets! Built at the beginning of the 20th century, this establishment was used from the outset to store countless varieties of hops. Rare varieties with distinctive tastes that are particularly different from one another. This laboratory allowed Guinness brewers to experiment with the most unexpected combinations!
And it was here, in this building, that the beer of the same name was born: Hop House 13 lager! An innovative beer that combines tradition and modernity.
In terms of ingredients, Hop House 13 Lager is brewed with hops of Irish, Australian and American origin (galaxy, topaz and mozaïc). Then there’s malted barley and yeast from the Guinness beer strain… and, of course, the brewery’s inimitable art and know-how!
And the results are in! The result is a smooth, frothy beer with a rather assertive character. The whole is fruity and richly hopped. The title is 5°. We detect orange and grapefruit: citrus fruits that add a refreshing edge to the beverage. Strong notes, rich in flavor and character.
This Guinness-branded beer is available in Ireland (notably at the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin), but also in other Anglo-Saxon countries: the United States and Australia in particular. This beer reinvents traditional lagers in its own way, and takes advantage of the opportunity to establish itself in markets where everything remains to be done.
It is still available in France and Belgium, but in 50cl bottle format. The label is a far cry from the usual Guinness design. Black and red letters on a white background, with Arthur Guinness’s signature, appear on each bottle. Impossible to miss.
