Clonmel 1650 is an Irish beer with a strong character. Named after a historic battle fought in the village of Clonmel in 1650, this is a Pale lager. Refreshing, but not available everywhere…
Forget brunettes, ambers and redheads. Clonmel 1650 goes back to basics, offering a balanced lager with subtle hop notes. More precisely, it’s a pilsner-style pale lager. The beer has a strength of 4.3%, making it light, fine and fruity.
German influences are evident, far from the usual Irish flavors.
Yet it’s a beer brewed in Ireland. It’s usually found in the town’s Irish pubs (Clonmel in County Tipperary), as well as in pubs like Belfast in Northern Ireland.
It’s a good alternative if you want to switch from traditional stouts (like Guinness or Murphy’s) to an Irish lager.
An ideal beer for cooling off in the summer heat. Expect to pay between 5 and 7 euros a pint, depending on the establishment you choose.
This beer is not currently available in supermarkets. It is only available in drinking establishments, and is served on draught for optimum quality.
