In Ireland, the Lú Festival of Light takes place in Drogheda during Halloween. Taking place from October 27 to 31, 2023 and November 2 to 4, 2023, this free festival will plunge County Louth into a fairytale world of light and magic, bringing myths and legends to life before your very eyes. A show not to be missed!
If you like night-time entertainment, and you’re not afraid of Irish myths and legends, then the Lú Festival of Light is a must.
Over the course of eight days, Drogheda’s landmarks – including the Old Abbey, St. Peter’s Church, St. Dominic’s Bridge, the garden of the Old Methodist Church and St. Lawrence Gate – will be transformed using state-of-the-art projection, sound and digital animation technologies to tell Ireland’s mythological story.
Not only will you see breathtaking images projected onto the buildings, but you’ll also hear legendary Irish tales, all designed by Irish company Visual Spectrum and Anthony Murphy of Mythical Ireland.
The animation and live music were created by Visual Spectrum, who used innovative technologies to map the buildings and create a digital audiovisual show.
The Halloween atmosphere will also spread through the streets, with stilt-walkers, face painters and fire-eaters to entertain the public. And if you need a break, cafés, bars and restaurants will be open late for you to eat and relax.
